Project Glass or Addictive Game from Risa?

Google has started to beta test a revolutionary new piece of Augmented Reality Tech. I cannot help but be reminded of William Riker and his addiction to a similar device on Riza (Episode “The Game”). In that episode everyone became addicted to this device by playing a “game” and succumbed to its powerful draw and intoxicating effects.

In comes Googles new  Project Glass – Google+. Hmmm….Looks a bit too similar to “The Game” no? Either way Google has some interesting things to say about this new “device”.  To quote directly from their Google Plus blog on the new Glasses:

We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t.

A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do.

So, What do you think? Deadly addictive device hell bent on enslaving the world or a keen new take on Augmented Reality?
